HICAPACITY

Hello everybody, this is Matthew with the follow up from the Arduino night we had on June 23rd, 2011. Wow that was fun! We saw lots of new faces at the Arduino night!

To recap what we learned, we controlled a motor using the Arduino, a transistorWoohoo! Ryan got his motor to work! and a diode. The principle was that based on a positive charge from the Arduino to the base pin of the transistor, the negatively charge collector would connect to the negatively charged emitter. That would complete the circuit and the motor would turn on. Also, we used a diode to prevent the motor from giving off a high voltage that would destroy our circuit. A few people mentioned projects they wanted to build the Arduino. One person even brought a counter which would display the results of a race between matchbox cars. If you have an idea, please submit the idea to our Google Moderator. To get there, click on the “Got Ideas?” link at the top of this page. Thanks!

IGDA of HonoluluAfter the success our first few IGDA Board game nights, we thought we might need to change locations to make room for more people.

For our third game night on Thursday, June 30 from 7PM to 11PM, we’ll be at:

Petals & Beans 1288 Ala Moana Boulevard

(Google Map)

Like last time, we will try to bring a few games that we can play, but if you have something you would really like us to try, please bring them. If this is your first time attending, we’re just a bunch of gaming enthusiasts that love to play games. In our previous game nights, we played Settlers of Catan and Blockus. Bring a new game to teach people or join an existing game for a night of friendly competition! :)

The official closing time is 11:00, which is when we expect to be done, but you are of course, welcome to stay longer if you want (or at least until our host kicks us out :-) )

Feel free to RSVP on our Facebook invite so we have a general idea of how many people are coming!

Hope to see you there!
